Have you met the Entrepreneurial Spirit?

Today, I want to introduce you to someone.

Someone who has a natural curiosity about the world around them.

Someone constantly asking questions to understand the “how” and “why” of everything

Someone who relentlessly innovates — unable (and unwilling) to silence their desire to improve the world.

Any clue who I’m talking about?

You might have a spark of familiarity in the back of your mind…

Which checks out, since you’ve already met this “someone” before — a few times, actually.

When you learned about Melanie Perkins and Ned Heaton

When you read the story of how I made my First Million dollars…

We all have this “someone” in common…

And that someone is the Entrepreneurial Spirit.

Ok, so maybe the Entrepreneurial Spirit isn’t a specific “someone”...

But it’s a persona…

A way of being…

The embodiment of a driven, entrepreneurial-minded soul, tying us together and keeping us striving for more.

It’s about living a purposeful life…

A life by design, not default.

I’ve talked about the Entrepreneurial Spirit in other newsletters, so I wanted to shed some extra light on it today…

Because what is the Entrepreneurial Spirit, really?

What does it mean to have an Entrepreneurial Spirit?

Well I’m glad you asked, because it means more than you might think.

What is the Entrepreneurial Spirit?

The Entrepreneurial Spirit is a way of being.

It allows you to embrace a life of personal freedom, happiness, and self-actualisation…

It gives you a strong sense of vision, empowering you to trust your creative capabilities…

It sparks a desire to solve problems, fueled by a want — and a need — to help others…

The Entrepreneurial Spirit calls you to answer:

What do I want out of life?

And how do I get there?

But, as I’m sure you already know…

These can be incredibly difficult questions to answer.

The Traits of the Entrepreneurial Spirit

The thing about the Entrepreneurial Spirit is that everyone is born with it…

It’s that natural curiosity about the world around us.

But, like other aspects of self… the Entrepreneurial Spirit needs to be cultivated.

It needs your attention…

It needs to be nurtured...

And it needs self-awareness to grow.

This self-awareness comes from developing (and maintaining) traits within yourself.

Traits that allow the Entrepreneurial Spirit to thrive, not die.

1. Resilience & Antifragility

The Entrepreneurial Spirit wants you to focus on building your resilience and antifragility muscles…

And yes, you need both, because both are equally important.

Being an entrepreneur means you will inevitably face rejection in some way...

An investor saying your business isn’t the right fit, right now…

A potential client who doesn’t have the finances to buy your product…

Or, your family saying, “Why don’t you just get a normal job like everyone else?”

But, despite the rejection, the Entrepreneurial Spirit wants you to remember:

You’re not like everybody else.

You put yourself in tense situations…

Situations where you know you’ll be told no…

But, you’re not afraid.

You seek adversity because you trust yourself to adapt, overcome, and evolve.

That’s resilience and antifragility.

And that’s what the Entrepreneurial Spirit wants from you.

2. Problem-Solving & Innovation

The Entrepreneurial Spirit wants you to fine-tune your problem-solving and innovation skills…

Because these are the skills that made you an entrepreneur in the first place.

You chose this path because you saw a problem that needed fixing…

One that caused everyone around you to scratch their heads…

An issue with no solution in sight…

But finding an answer to the problem doesn’t scare you — it intrigues you…

And because you know there is always a better way, you find one.

By keeping your problem-solving and innovation skills sharp, you can continue finding solutions to everyday problems that affect the lives of everyday people.

To envision a better world for yourself and others…

And to carve a new path forward.

That’s what the Entrepreneurial Spirit wants from you.

3. Learning & Leadership

The Entrepreneurial Spirit wants you to commit to learning and expanding your knowledge…

Because as entrepreneurs, we are naturally curious.

By committing to a life of learning, you constantly challenge your beliefs and worldviews.

You expand your mind by seeking out new perspectives…

And in doing so, create a culture of learning for everyone else around you.

But, if you keep your new arsenal of knowledge to yourself…

No one can benefit from it.

The Entrepreneurial Spirit wants to remind you that it’s your responsibility to share what you’ve learned with the people around you.

True leaders — and true entrepreneurs — commit to learning for the greater good…

And by doing so, you build a better future for yourself and others.

That’s what the Entrepreneurial Spirit wants from you.

Your Guide

The Entrepreneurial Spirit is why — and how — entrepreneurs are changing the world.

It pushes you toward a life of personal freedom, happiness, and self-actualisation…

It encourages a way of living that openly rejects the traditions of the Status Quo…

And it opens a line of questioning that forces you to ask yourself:

What do I want out of life, and how can I achieve it?”

The (harsh) truth is that nobody can answer these questions for you…

Not even the Entrepreneurial Spirit itself.

So, instead, consider the Entrepreneurial Spirit a guide.

A part of your consciousness that wants you to strive for more by working on the traits that make you your absolute best self

Because, if you don’t…

The Entrepreneurial Spirit will be extinguished by the sameness of the Status Quo.

And nobody benefits from that — least of all, you.

Stay awesome, stay powerful.
